While it is easy to get involved outside of class on campus, some students still want more. Former high school debaters on Denison's campus want to join the ranks of larger universities in forming an intercollegiate competitive speech and debate team. These students and members of the communication department are beginning collaborations Student leaders were encouraged by the turnout of students who had varied interests and experiences at last week's interest meeting.
As President Obama begins his new term as our president, many Americans anticipate the answer to the question: will Obama really be able to change Washington? On Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, living rooms in America were full and citizens eagerly waited for the results of the 2008 presidential election.
The goal is to reach personal enlightenment. Everyone who plays the game can be a winner. Personal enlightenment is a tool to help to stop oppression. It is a life long journey. Through authentic dialogue, each player will either begin their personal journey towards enlightenment or will be helped along their journey.
Feb. 19 through 21, student leaders have decided that it is time for the Denison community to host its first Black Men's Summit. All are invited to this occasion, which many hopes will enrich, enlighten and generate dialogue among Denisonians, and youth from Columbus, Newark, and neighboring colleges and universities.
Some favorite professors on campus are here for good, thanks to the tenure process. Denison's board of trustees recently gave 10 professors tenured positions. These professors, members of departments spanning the arts, humanities and sciences, will have lifetime employment at Denison.
In this week's meeting, DCGA approved the African American Christian Fellowship/Black Student Union budget. They also approved the budget for Omnicore Delta Epsilon (the economics society on campus). Motions were made to reconsider opening the vacant seats of the Class of 2012 Senator and the Hillel community senator.
