The Denisonian

About Us

The Denisonian is Denison University’s student publication since 1857,  the oldest campus student organization.. The Denisonian is a non-profit organization, operating on Denison Campus Governance Association (DCGA) student activity fund.

Who are we?

The Denisonian is entirely student-run. The editorial staff consists of students of many class years, disciplines, and background. We are advised by Alan Miller, The Columbus Dispatch‘s Managing Editor for News.

Our elections are held at the end of every semester for section editors and at the end of December for managing staff (Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor). Positions are filled by Denison students through an application process, regardless of prior experience with the organization. For any information about staff and application, please refer to our Managing Editor.

I love working for The Denisonian. It’s an important way to transmit information to the student body. We have an opportunity here to make sure that student voices are heard, and that Denison is the most transparent institution that it can be.

A sophomore from another small town in Ohio, I am majoring in English because I love to edit and write. I am also involved in the Creative Writing club, and if I'm missing, I've fled down the hill to the music practice rooms.

BIO:
I'm a sophomore from Orange County, California. I am currently an English major and a Vocal Performance minor here at Denison University. Outside of editing for the newspaper, you'll find me reading, taking pictures of trees, singing, or just listening to music. I spend an absurd amount of time among the stacks in the library, in the practice rooms down on South Quad, and just outdoors! I love cats and Whit's!

Hey y’all, I’m a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, and I’m actually in love with the news section and the Denisonian as a whole. And if y’all are actually reading these bios, then I’m an even bigger fan of you guys! Outside of the Denisonian, I really enjoy binge-watching Netflix and quietly indulging in politically based books. I’m also obsessed with beaches and people who can make me laugh.

BIO:
As a freshman English major, philosophy minor from Fort Wayne, Indiana, I'm new to Denison and even newer to The Denisonian. I love to write and argue passionately about things that do and should matter, so I can't think of a better place for me than Forum! Civil liberties mean a great deal to me, and being able to exercise the most important--freedom of speech--in a constructive, intelligent environment that fosters discerning discourse is an amazing experience.

Ja’mie King is my spirit animal and I have an unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter and my two cats. I grew up in a very active, sports-oriented family and I love being able to combine my passion forathletics with my love for writing, which is why I can’t think of a better place than the Denisonian to be able to do exactly that!
